Eight Apartments Let in One Day at RG1 Reading
Last month the team set out to complete a big challenge - let nine apartments in one day! Well, we can tell you that whilst the RG1 Reading lettings day was a huge success, we did fall short - with eight of the nine available apartments let in a single day - come on team! Let’s dig into it…
Managed by the team at Miller Rose on Wednesday 13th May, the lettings day brought prospective tenants into RG1, a modern collection of apartments on Caversham Road in central Reading. Rather than judging the homes from photographs or floorplans alone, tenants could see how the apartments worked in person, from the quality of the interiors to the practical advantages of the location, including station access and everyday amenities close by.
By the end of the day, eight apartments had been let, with move-ins now scheduled from late May through to July. That is what makes the result more than a quick win. Tenants were not just responding to one standout apartment option, they were choosing RG1 for the location, the homes and the way the development worked for everyday life.
For landlords, developers and investors, this is what a successful lettings day should show: not just interest, but serious tenant demand, well-handled viewings and homes presented clearly enough for people to feel ready to move forward.
Why RG1 Reading appealed to tenants
Reading works for renters because it fits into everyday life. Tenants are not only looking at the apartment itself; they are thinking about the commute, the route into town, the journey home after work and whether the location makes daily life feel easier. That is where the strength of the product and the quality of the lettings approach came together. Developed by quality-focused developer Mandale Homes, RG1 gave tenants a central Reading base that worked beyond the commute. London and the wider South East were within reach, while nearby shops, restaurants, riverside walks and quieter green spaces helped the location feel easy to live with, not just easy to travel from. Inside the apartments, that same practicality continued. Across the one and two bedroom apartments, tenants could see layouts that made sense, a contemporary finish and useful everyday features including Bosch appliances, LVT flooring, secure entry and strong broadband. Together, those details made the homes feel finished, practical and ready for tenants to settle into quickly. That is why the response on the lettings day felt considered. Tenants were not being won over by one feature alone. They could see how RG1 would support the way they actually live, from travel and work to evenings, weekends and the smaller details that make a home feel easy to settle into. The preparation behind a successful lettings day
A successful lettings day starts before the first tenant walks through the door. The homes need to be ready, the enquiries need to be handled properly and the team needs to understand what people are likely to ask once they are inside the building. At RG1, that preparation mattered because tenants were making real decisions on the day. They needed to understand which apartments were available, how the layouts worked, when they could move in and what the next step would look like if they wanted to go ahead. That is where the role of a letting agent is key. For landlords, developers and investors, interest is only valuable when it is managed well. The right information needs to be available at the right moment, so tenants can make confident decisions and the people behind the property are not left waiting for momentum to return. As Stuart Macdiarmid, Sales and Lettings Director at Miller Rose, explains:“RG1 had the right appeal from the start. Our job was to make the day feel clear and useful for tenants, not rushed. People needed to see the apartments properly, ask the right questions and understand what would happen next if they wanted to move forward. When interest is strong, you still have to handle it carefully.”
What landlords, developers and investors should take from RG1
For landlords, developers and investors, the value of the RG1 lettings day is not only the number of apartments let. It is what the result says about tenant fit, presentation and the way interest is handled once people are through the door. A strong rental home still needs to be brought to market properly. The location needs to make sense, the product needs to stand up in person and tenants need enough information to make a clear decision. When those pieces are in place, a lettings day can do more than generate viewings, it can give people the confidence to commit. For the people behind the property, that is the part that matters. A good lettings result is about protecting momentum, reducing avoidable delay and starting tenancies on the right footing.Looking for a letting agent who handles the detail?
